Learning activity C3: Performances and theatre workshops, Performance-oriented approach, Shadow Theatre and ForumTheatre

The third LTTA, named C3 – PERFORMANCES AND THEATRE WORKSHOPS, focused on a performance-oriented approach, Shadow Theatre, and Forum Theatre, held in Ribeira Grande from August 27th to 31 of 2023, facilitated a transformative learning experience for participants from partner institutions. With six learners accompanied by three trainers from each partner institution, the LTTA aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of theatrical techniques and foster collaborative creativity. Before the exchange, participants received preparatory materials to maximize collaborative work during the exchange. Cultural activities, including visits, sightseeing tours, and artistic programs, enriched participants’ cultural experiences, complementing topic-related activities.Topic-related activities centered on the creation of digital materials such as flyers, brochures, and posters, fostering collaboration and digital literacy skills among participants. The results produced, including presentations, reports, and collaborative work, were shared on the project’s website, along with initial and final evaluation tools, certificates, and performance guides.

MUSIQUIM, a key partner, offered theoretical orientation, semiotics, and practical workshops through its “Theatre Laboratory of drama and speech,” enhancing participants’ expressiveness and performance skills. The laboratory provided a platform for artists, trainers, and learners to integrate expressiveness into their practice. The LTTA encompassed theatre-based techniques tailored for educators, youth, professionals in theatre pedagogy, and community theatre practitioners. Participants engaged in training sessions focused on improvisation, devising, oral communication, and creativity, empowering them to express themselves confidently and effectively.Shadow Theatre workshops provided insight into figure creation, lighting, and movement, culminating in the preparation of short performances by small groups. Forum Theatre sessions encouraged participants to explore societal issues through interactive performance, fostering critical thinking and empathy.The methodology employed a theater-based approach, emphasizing practical, experimental learning within a supportive group environment. Each workshop session lasted 90 minutes, providing ample time for reflection and feedback.In conclusion, the C3 – PERFORMANCES AND THEATRE WORKSHOPS LTTA provided a rich learning experience, fostering creativity, collaboration, and self-expression among participants. By embracing theatrical techniques and practical exercises, the LTTA laid a strong foundation for continued growth and innovation in theatre education and performance.
